The voice of London’s largest commercial station, follow the rise and rise of DJ Neev Ranu. Only a clutch of DJ’s can claim to have significantly raised the profile of one of London’s largest radio stations and DJ Neev is one of them.

Kiss 100 is today the 3rd largest commercial station in London. Official RAJAR figures for her first year show that it was presenter Neev’s, daily lunchtime show that significantly shot up in listeners and has increased to reach a massive 122,000 listeners on the year and 55,000 on the quarter, more listeners than Capital Radio for the same timeslot! A massive achievement and a record broken…not bad for a 27 year old.

This year Neev was also nominated for ‘Best Radio Show’ at the UK AMA’s and is now an ambassador for the Women of Achievement Programme. She is also currently one of the few Asian voices are heard on national daytime mainstream radio.

Born in Berkshire, Neev won a drama scholarship and boarded at St. Georges, Ascot before reading Theatre, Media, Photography and Film at Henley College. She made her radio debut on her local regional Reading 107 Fm at 18 years old and went on to co-produce, produce and present almost every radio slot imaginable to get to where she is today. Her distinctive voice as alter ego Tara K was heard on Sunrise Radio one of the UK’s largest Asian Radio network through to Star 106.6FM and the BBC’s Asian Network. She also facilitated the launch of Westside FM, BBA 87.9FM radio stations.

From the local ‘traffic and travel’ girl she went onto being integral in a prestigious Sony Radio Award nominated show in 2005. The show was the Rishi Rich Project Show on Kiss 100 FM one that she built and produced.

With her foot firmly wedged in the door she went on to shadow presenters that inspired her such as Chris Phillips and Robin Banks at Kiss 100. When Kiss head of programming Andy Roberts saw her willpower and doggedness he offered her more opportunities to work with Kiss 100. Her first contact was a sound contract, effectively making her the ‘Voice of Kiss’ with her distinctive tones being heard on voiceovers, jingles, promotion and branding for the then EMAP station.

This lead to freelance production work advancing on to presenting the early breakfast show 7 days a week from 3-6am making her the only presenter on daily for the station. Having earned her stripes, this progressed, to her now most extremely successful week day lunchtime slot. She had also recently represented Kiss 100 in a spanking new series of gigs introducing Bassline to Ibiza at Es Paradis as well as showing off her mixing skills at clubs including Pacha and the RS Lounge.

A fierce supporter of the Epilepsy Research charity Neev still has a spades of talent and interests that remain uncovered. Her sheer passion for music, understanding of her audience has ensured that she has turned one of her dreams into a reality. Another dream is to step into the world of Television. Her eclectic London-centric style of Dance and Bassline infused with her witty humour and ability to gain audiences ‘staying power’, she is steadily turning heads and ears and being noted as a real force to be reckoned with.

Catch Neev weekdays 12 – 3pm on Kiss 100.
